Baby Mama

You know it's been a while since you've posted when your mother complains that you haven't blogged in a while. So, this was my family-centered weekend:

Friday night Italian beef and Chicago hot dogs and wine for the adults.  Our friends Maddy and Sam and their mommy hung out, made a mess and generally had a great time.

Saturday was the usual gymnastics and soccer (yes, my 3 year-old takes soccer - I'm one of those parents).  Then we ate at the new, hip cafe in our little town where it felt like San Francisco a little bit since everyone in there had tattoos. (What is it about strong coffee and tattoos? ) Afterwards, went to a farm/park close to our house.  Made friends with goats and pigs, ran after the kids.  Try to visualize this in your head since Blogger is deciding to be a little bitch right now by not uploading this one particular image.

Today went to the Morton Arboretum and aside from the fact Nina was sulking and whining most of the time, it was a beautiful experience.  See the fall foliage? Oooo, ahh.

Came home to rest and Nina and I watched Baby Mama together.  Is that an inappropriate film to show your 5 year-old? She really liked it when Amy Poehler said something about farting into a purse.  Am I mother of the year or what?

The weekend was topped off by a lovely white trash dessert.  Here's the recipe:

1 box angel food cake mix
1 can pumpkin
Cool Whip or Jewel brand whipped topping

Mix it together so it is a nice even orange color, fluffy and smooth.  Pour into cake pan.  Throw some fall candy leaves, or maybe even some black sprinkles on top to make it look Halloweeny. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes.  Top with Cool Whip for the ultimate taste sensation.  Mmmmm.

Mimi's seen Baby Mama like 5 times and is obsessed with it. As far as I'm concerned, if a movie doesn't have nudity or sex in it, a little language never killed any kid. And it's worth the WPE factor when you can actually enjoy the movie you're watching with your kids.

I'm going to make that cake!
