That's how I've been feeling lately, especially at night. Maybe it's the fact that I went out twice last week during the week or stayed up late at our friend's house in Milwaukee on Saturday night, but every other night I've been falling asleep at 8 pm with the kids and napping for several hours. Now it's 11:15 pm on a school night and I'm wide awake. This is my horrible school-year sleeping habit. Oddly enough, my dad had (still has?) the same nightly routine - a nap after dinner and then he was up until about 1 am. If it's worked for him all these years, maybe it's not so bad, right?
Last week I had two rare treats - a close friend was visiting from SF so I got to go into the city, spend time with Sen, shop, drink wine and eat yummy Asian food. All the things we used to do, compressed into 3 hours. The next night, Kaveh and I went on a real date to go see our friend Cassidy's new apartment and see an incredible band Woven Hand from Denver. A little Nick Cave mixed with a little Miracle Legion (I'm really dating myself here). Basically a beautiful soulfoul voice with some tribal beats and sometimes some banjolin thrown in. Kaveh pointed out afterwards that the main dude is a born-again Christian but it was unlike any Christian rock I'd ever heard. Highly recommended.
So even though most of the time when I'm home at night after the kids are in bed I'm feeling old and achy and sleepy, there are times when I feel transported back 10 years and I remember who I am and what I like. I'd like to see her again more often.
